VAC or NPWT

Negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) or VAC is a method of removing fluid and infection from a wound to help it heal. A special dressing (bandage) is sealed over the wound and a gentle vacuum pump is attached. This therapy can help your wound heal faster and with fewer infections. Not wounds are suitable for this technique and your surgeon needs to decide the correct time and site for application.

Injection Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy or injection of varicose veins is a technique in which the veins are injected with a solution called a sclerosant which damages the internal lining of the vein and causes blood to clot within the veining block it.The solution normally used for this procedure is called sodium tetradecyl sulphate (STD) or Polidocanol. The vein becomes small and disappears after that.

Blood vessels called artery  deliver oxygen containing blood to your hands / legs and organs. When there is a blockage in this artery, the circulation of blood to your body is reduced which may cause pain or if the blockage is severe even damage to body called gangrene.

Gangrene is the death of the part of a body. It may be a toe, a finger, a part of the intestine or a leg etc.

Gangrene occurs due to the lack of blood supply to that particular part of the body. This can be due to blockage of the blood vessels by fat deposits or blood clots or due to blockage as a consequence of infection.
