The COVID – 19 virus is a RNA based virus that gain entry into human cells through a receptor called ACE – 2 receptor. This is commonly found in cells lining adult lungs which is the primary target of the virus . However these receptors are also found on the cells lining the blood vessels of the human body. Data from around the world suggests that the covid virus is affecting blood vessels leading to formation of clots. These are leading to problems of blood clots forming in the veins of the leg causing Deep Vein Thrombosis. This is a condition which can be complicated further by these clots moving into the lung blood vessels causing Pulmonary embolism, a condition that can result in death.
